A Downtown Memphis Rehearsal Dinner at Cafe Keough

Wedding weekend wouldn't have been what it was without Cafe Keough and their helping to put on the most perfect night to welcome family and our bridal party to Memphis.

After planning the wedding for months and months, it was especially fun to switch gears and plan a night with a different look and feel. I played with many different designs for the rehearsal dinner invitation, and knew I wanted to include our silhouettes. I wasn't really sold on anything that I had come up with until I decided to use Cafe Keough itself for inspiration, with its huge chalkboard menus, tall ceilings, white subway tiles and blue accented walls.

As a seated dinner, the invitation also called for a reply card with options to initial next to the entree choice for each guest. Then when we received the cards back, we would tally up the choices and color code the place cards with metallic and teal blue stickers. Vistaprint did a fantastic job with the printing of both the invites and the reply cards!

Clearly it was all delicious or else someone would have stopped eating long enough to take a picture of the dishes!

After taking inventory of our favorite foods, drinks and desserts, Cafe Keough owner Kevin Keough came up with the most amazing menu for the night.

- Creamy Lobster bisque

- Strawberry salad with goat cheese, almonds, mixed spring greens & cranberry vinaigrette

- Herb-roasted chicken with rosemary, thyme & paprika rub, along with fingerling potatoes

- Honey-glazed salmon with polenta, frisee & citrus drizzle

- Wild mushroom ravioli with extra virgin olive oil & parmesan cheese

- Petit fours, macaroons & madeleines

The cafe didn't call for too much decorating, and the pretty pink carnations and lamb's ear from our florist Kacie Cooper were just enough, along with milk glass vases from a vintage Etsy seller and a collection of T.J. Maxx picture frames for table numbers. To see what I use the milk glass vases for now, check out my previous blog: What to Do with Wedding Flowers After the Wedding.

The finishing touch - and my favorite decoration - sat at the head table, between my place card and my groom's: the bride and groom cake topper from his parents' wedding.

And best of all, we were surrounded by so many people we love. So thanks to Cafe Keough and all who made this downtown Memphis rehearsal dinner a night we will never forget!
