No-mess Painting with Baby
While spending a few days at home with my little guy, I perused Pinterest for some activities a 7-month old might enjoy. He’s done this “no-mess painting” before at daycare but I’ve never done it with him before, so we decided to give it a try.
I dropped a few dots of acrylic paint on some colored paper and slid it into a Ziploc bag, then taped it down on a flat surface. I later learned I should’ve taped it a little more firmly so it wouldn’t slide, and probably could’ve used a bit more paint too, but we made it work. Then I let baby make his masterpiece! We did tummy time and he used his little hands to scrunch the plastic and smear the paint to his heart’s content. I also held him up to swirl some paint around with his feet too.
Another thing I learned is to take the paper out right away rather than letting it somewhat dry and get stuck to the plastic bag. When I pulled it out, a few pieces of paint came off the paper. It actually made a pretty cool effect, but we decided to add a finishing touch of some clouds to hide the mishap.
Getting the little artist to pose with his masterpiece proved a little difficult too but he sure had fun admiring his work!
