A Sweet Blue Baby Shower for Baby Boy Daniel
My friends Allyson and Meg threw me, Jeff and baby boy the sweetest baby shower over the weekend, filled with so many of our favorite things and people. They did such a great job with every little detail that I just had to write a little blog post about it. It all started with the cutest Paperless Post invites, which were the perfect way to link to the registry and track RSVPs.
Snacks, Sweets and Sips
Jeff and I both love a good chicken biscuit, and I have a feeling our little guy will appreciate them one day too! We loved these mini ones, along with the chicken salad finger sandwiches and plenty of fruit, cheese and crackers.
As for the sweets table, I have a lifelong love for petit fours, and these from 17 Berkshire were some of the best I’ve had! The little blue icing booties were the perfect finishing touch. We also had the yummiest and cutest baby boy cookies from The Sweet Tooth by Lauren.
We also cheers-ed with festive champagne cocktails and sparkling cider for yours truly and baby boy.
Baby Boy Decorations
Light blue was already one of my favorite colors, but I’ve obviously embraced it even more since finding out we were having a baby boy. The light blue balloons (anchored down my teddy bears of course), ribbons, confetti and napkins were the perfect table touches. My little gift opening seat had the prettiest blue sash and these adorable baby blocks.
Baby Shower Activities
Activities started with everyone filling out these sweet little hopes and dreams for baby sheets - printed at FedEx of course! I’ve so enjoyed reading through these. The top wishes are for baby boy to get mom’s eyes and dad’s height. We shall see!
Then came diaper decorating to make diaper duty a little more fun. These turned out so cute, and they will for sure make me smile and laugh during what is otherwise a not so fun task.
Finally we had a question game, where my friend Allyson had asked Jeff questions in advance and then I was asked the same at the party to compare our answers. Questions included what Jeff said when he found out we were having a baby (“wow” - he was also still half asleep lol), what we think baby’s first word will be (I said DaDa and he said MaMa), any cravings I’ve had (TCBY - vanilla with cookie dough), the drink I’m most looking forward to after baby arrives (Rosé) and what we’re most looking forward to about him growing up (being besties with our dog Tracy and watching sports with his dad).
Baby Shower Outfits
10/10 would recommend the Hill House Nap Dress for baby showers or any occasion while pregnant, or not pregnant. I had seen other people wear these for showers, and when Hill House did a special blue Nap Dress launch earlier this summer, I knew this was going to be my shower dress. It’s so comfortable, and I’m excited to wear it again and again even after baby boy. Our guests rocked their outfits too with the sweetest blue and green ensembles.
Baby Registry and Gifts
I registered through BabyList, with lots of guidance from a friend who recently had a baby boy. I love that BabyList pulls in products from anywhere and allows guests to pick where they want to shop. This also seemed helpful if products were on sale or sold out at certain stores. Another feature I liked was the ability to either ship a gift to our address or reserve it so you could bring it to the shower. As someone who works on a mobile app myself, I also appreciate a good app, and theirs has been super helpful. It’s easy to add items and track who got what, which helps with thank you notes. BabyList also has helpful articles and reviews about products to help you pick things for your registry.
In addition to covering our top registry picks, I love how some of our guests got creative with shopping local for sweet outfits from Cotton Tails and baby books from Novel. Some of Jeff’s favorites were these airplane reads! We even got the cutest handmade gift - a little blue hat knitted by my sister.
Hostess Gifts and Thank You Notes
I so appreciate my friends hosting a baby shower for me and wanted to get them a little something. I knew I wanted it to be light blue in honor of baby boy, and found these beautiful handmade cosmetic bags on Etsy that, in my opinion, made the perfect hostess gift, combined with some cute Target wrapping.
For thank you notes, I knew I wanted some new letterpress stationary since we had long since run out of our wedding stationery. I shopped around for good quality at a good price and settled on this letterpress stationery from Kinship Letterpress on Etsy. They print in multiple colors, and of course I went with light blue, and put our last name at the top so we could both use them. After baby is born, I plan to get more with his name on them for his Christmas gifts and other future thank you notes.
As you can tell, I loved everything about this baby shower and feel so much love for our little boy! I can’t wait for him to get here and meet the incredible people who have been celebrating him throughout my pregnancy.
