Growing You: The Pregnancy Journal I've Been Using

I journaled off and on as a kid, but haven’t really done much as an adult (unless you count blogging as journaling, which maybe it is!). I knew I wanted to remember this special time in my life though, so I looked through pregnancy and baby journals and books until I found the right one. A lot of them go through the first year of life - or the first 18 - and that was a little too much commitment for me at the moment. Growing You by Korie Herold was the perfect amount, with 9 months worth of pages and beautiful illustrations to fill and enjoy while I wait for our little boy. I spend so much time typing on the computer these days for work that writing on these pages by hand has been a nice change of pace and a relaxing little activity.

Journaling Prompts for 9 Months

If you’re intimidated by journaling for 9 months, or any length of time, that’s why I love the prompts Growing You provides each month to get you thinking about what you want to say. They’re not super cheesy, just things about how you’re feeling, what you’re thinking (and craving!) that month. Also, in my opinion, there’s no pressure to fill them all out. I have definitely skipped around and probably spent the most time on the catch-all “thoughts and reflections from this month” section, filing it with my own memories and anecdotes.

Keepsake Journal Pages & Pocket

Besides the month-by-month of prompts, the journal also has space to record your prenatal appointments, birth story, sonograms and your little’s one footprints. I love that there are also a bunch of blank pages at the back because I’ve been filling those with photos, which brings me to my next point. If you’re worried about filling the pages with writing, you can always fill them with photos! I find that we take so many photos on our phones that get buried in our iClouds, and I know they’ll get even more buried when I have a child to take photos of, so I’ve printed some memorable ones from these 9 months and know I’ll enjoy flipping through them for years to come. The final page is a pocket which I’ve been filling with all the sweet cards friends and family members have sent congratulating us on our baby boy.

As you can tell, I’ve enjoyed this Growing You pregnancy journal so much, and I hope my little review helps encourage others to document a special time in their lives.
