Golf-Themed 4th Birthday Party (FORE!)
When it came time to plan Adam’s birthday party this year, I thought about golf because of how much fun he’s had learning to play with his dad recently. That and I can’t resist a good pun like Adam is Fore! (four)
I had a lot of fun with this theme, starting with designing the invites and the party favor tags with more puns (thanks for swinging by!) with a subtle golf tee border and score card background. I loved these golf ball cups, and so did the kids! If they were a little older, I think it would be so cute to attach mini pencils to the tags, but I couldn’t have a bunch of 3-4 year olds running around with pencils!
For entertainment, I rented a white bounce house from a local company, bought a golf ball piñata which I filled with candy, and got 2 mini golf sets from Target which doubled as Adam’s birthday presents. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten Adam to smile bigger for my camera than when this bounce house was delivered!
I kept decorations pretty simple with a number 4 balloon, some flowers (mostly to weight down the white plastic tablecloths), Adam’s golf hats (which were another birthday present - Rey to Z 4 hat and Titleist junior hat) and a few tees we had lying around. One of my favorite touches was a nod to the Birdies & Bubbles tent at the FedEx St. Jude Championship here in Memphis by Andrew Michael. I don’t think I got a close-up, but we also had the cutest golf ball napkins. Pro tip: When you’re having an outdoor party, signage from the front door to the restroom is essential, bonus points if you can make it on-theme (locker room this way!)! I learned this from other very smart moms whose parties we’ve attended recently and it definitely came in handy. All signage was printed at FedEx Office, of course!
Last but certainly not least, there was the cake. I can’t say enough good things about Primas Bakery where I love to get all kinds of goodies. They can make any idea you have come to life, and the cake and icing are so fresh, light, and delicious. 😋 I sent them some Pinterest inspo, bought this mini golf cart, made the flag with this golf club drink stir (the rest of which I put out on the drink table) and got a simple white number 4 candle which Adam tried to blow out before we even sang Happy Birthday!
My favorite part of the day was how much fun Adam, his friends, and all of our friends and family had! Mom and dad even snuck a turn down the slide after the kiddos left! I really got into the golf theme with my Tuckernuck pink polo dress and my favorite hat from the FedEx St. Jude!
